Publishing literary translations in English to reach a global audience
Raven Translation Press
Step into the world of Raven Translation Press – an independent enterprise exclusively committed to bringing translated creative prose to a wider audience. Our publishing house serves to increase visibility of works not originally written in English and gain recognition for their authors, as well as providing translators with the acknowledgement they deserve.
Presenting English-speaking readers with books previously closed-off to them, due to language barriers, aims to increase the amount of translated literary fiction in the UK from its current 3.5%.
The founder, Lynette Raven, has a Master of Arts Degree in Translation.

On My Own Two Wheels
The English-language translation of Naomi Cahen’s personal diary/travel log On My Own Two Wheels (original title Une chambre à air) was published by Raven Translation Press in December 2024. It is a personal story of relationship break-ups and her unique way of riding them out: a month-long, solo cycle trip from London to Lausanne, her hometown in Switzerland. Read her inner thoughts on love and life, her amusing commentary on the accommodation she stays at and the animals who reside there, plus her observations, sometimes humorous and sometimes less so, of herself and others.
The book is currently available from numerous online sites including Amazon and Waterstone’s.
Naomi Cahen is an author and graphic designer, and co-wrote the short film ‘Action’ with Benoît Monney, which was nominated for the 2023 Swiss Film Awards. She is autistic and advocates for neurodiversity whenever she can.
NEWS UPDATE:
With Naomi’s book now on sale, RTP is working on a new project: translating and publishing works by the Swiss playwright/screen writer/film producer and director, Antoine Jaccoud. The translations will mean Antoine’s work will be brought to an English-speaking audience, whether they read printed copies or see an on-stage performance of his monologues.

About Us
The idea to create this small, independent company was born out of personal difficulty in convincing publishers in the UK to take an increased interest in translated literature. Books that I was passionate about didn’t whet the appetite of traditional publishing houses, despite them often having won awards in their home countries.
Currently, the amount of translated literature in the UK stands at 3.5%, according to a recent study by Nielsen Book, and the focus very firmly remains on books originally written in English. Compare this figure with that of 33% in Poland, for example, and you get an idea of how English-speaking audiences could be missing out.
Raven Translation Press’ aim is to bring a greater choice of literature to readers both in the UK and throughout the world, to help promote cultural awareness.
